Thank you for your interest in volunteering at My Sister's Place! Volunteers are an integral part of our work, dedicating their time to help families in crisis. Please note that all volunteers, with the exception of Clothesline Project volunteers, must be at least 18 years of age.
Administrative volunteers donate their time and special skills to MSP during normal business hours. To serve as an administrative volunteer, please complete the volunteer application. We will contact you if your skills and availability match our current needs.
Children's Program Volunteers
MSP's Children's Program meets Tuesday evenings from 6:45-8:15 at our confidentially located emergency shelter. Due to the sensitive nature of their work, volunteers must complete the volunteer application, background check authorization, confidentialilty agreement, and a training.
Stay tuned for our next volunteer training class. Please complete the required attachments and send them to firstname.lastname@example.org. We will contact you with the location.
NOTE: Our shelter's location is not metro accessible.
Clothesline Project Volunteers
We will host the Clothesline Project 2016 at McPherson Square, 950 15th Street NW, Washington DC 20005, on October 7, 2016 from 10am-3pm . Real survivors tell their stories of abuse, despair, hope, and empowerment by expressing their feelings and experiences of domestic violence through their own art on t-shirts, which are displayed on a clothesline held by victim advocates and volunteers. Victims often suffer in silence and shame. MSP's Clothesline Project gives them a voice.
Volunteers help with setting up the display, checking in fellow volunteers, displaying the Clothesline, disassembling the display, and with getting the word out via Facebook! If you or a group would like to volunteer please email email@example.com.
Community Outreach and Education Volunteers
Community Outreach and Education volunteers support our initiatives to connect local services providers and others to our free and confidential programs and services. Volunteers support special projects, assist with translating materials, or represent our agency at tabling events. Please complete our volunteer application and stress your experience working with victims of domestic violence or first responders and any language skills you may have.
Development and Fundraising Volunteers
Fundraising volunteers donate their time to MSP in a variety of ways. From supporting MSP's events to planning special events and other activities. To serve as a fundraising volunteer, please complete MSP's volunteer application. We will contact you if your skills and availability match our current needs. If you would like to organize an event, thank you! We would be more than happy to send a representative and provide literature to your guests. Please contact email us at firstname.lastname@example.org or call 202-529-5261 to coordinate.
