Who We Are

My Sister's Place is a community of staff, volunteers, and advocates committed to eradicating domestic violence. As DC's oldest domestic violence shelter, we have served as a cornerstone of the District's response to this pressing public health issue since 1979.

The Metropolitan Police Department receives more than 31,800 domestic violence-related calls each year - that's 1 call every 17 minutes and that doesn't include victims who were afraid to call 911 or unable to call.

These are our neighbors and they need us now more than ever. We hope you will join our movement by becoming a staff member or volunteer.
