In 2012, we provided 10,406 bednights in our emergency shelter. That's 10,406 nights women and children didn't have to sleep in a violent home or on the streets of DC.
More than 90% of the families who exited our emergency shelter moved to more stable, safe homes. They didn't return to their abusers, become homeless, or move to a short-term shelter program - draining this limited resource.
In RISE, our transitional-to-permanent housing program, all of the families we served lived in apartment units leased in their own names, developed and maintained household budgets, and paid their bills on time.
We save and rebuild lives, one family at a time.
